My Favorite Poem

I'm not really a poetry person, but one poem has always had a profound impact on me. Every time I read this poem, it makes we want to do good and be better. I suppose I should read it more often, eh? Seriously though, I love this poem so much. Myra Brooks Welch has done more good with this one poem that any of us can probably imagine.

'Twas battered and scarred, and the auctioneer
Thought it scarcely worth his while
To waste much time on the old violin,
But held it up with a smile: "What am I bidden, good folks," he cried,
"Who'll start the bidding for me?"
"A dollar, a dollar", then, "Two!" "Only two?
Two dollars, and who'll make it three?
Three dollars, once; three dollars, twice;
Going for three--" But no,
From the room, far back, a gray-haired man
Came forward and picked up the bow;
Then, wiping the dust from the old violin,
And tightening the loose strings,
He played a melody pure and sweet
As a caroling angel sings.

The music ceased, and the auctioneer,
With a voice that was quiet and low,
Said, "What am I bid for the old violin?"
And he held it up with the bow.
"A thousand dollars, and who'll make it two?
Two thousand! And who'll make it three?
Three thousand, once, three thousand, twice,
And going, and gone!" said he.
The people cheered, but some of them cried,
"We do not quite understand
What changed its worth." Swift came the reply:
"The touch of the master's hand."

And many a man with life out of tune,
And battered and scarred with sin,,
Is auctioned cheap to the thoughtless crowd,
much like the old violin.
A "mess of pottage," a glass of wine,
A game--and he travels on.
He's "going" once, he's "going twice,
He's "going" and almost "gone."
But the Master comes, and the foolish crowd
Never can quite understand
The worth of a soul and the change that's wrought
By the touch of the Master's hand.

Chuck E Cheese's

Some things are just down right disturbing. Cool, but disturbing. I'm going to have nightmare's about this.

America's Best Dance Crew!!!

I'm not one to watch many shows like American Idol or Dancing With The Stars (or TV at all for that matter) but I saw this and I was like, "YEAH! Now THIS is TV!" So it's a show on MTV (Season 2 starts next Thursday at 10 PM EST!) that has dance crews competing against each other. The audience votes afterwards and everyone's happy. :D

There's this crew called the JabbaWockeeZ that are TRIPPIN'! (yes, I just said "trippin"). Anyway, they're the winners of the first season and I've included a couple compilations of there dancing for you (cause they're AWESOME!!!) So yeah, check it out!

P.S. Both videos are tight, but the second one has some REALLY good stuff!

Facebook Encounters In Real Life? Hm...

So this is a hilarious (and semi-sketchy) video about what it would be like to have a Facebook encounter in real life. Enjoy!

Windows Windows Windows...

Have you ever used Windows ME (Millennium Edition) before? Yeah, it's like rubbing salt into a wound and going on a run when the forecast calls for acid rain. Anyway, I thought I'd share my love for Windows ME. :)

I Wanna Dress Like Hendrix!

It's the totally hip, cool, wicked sweet, almost-as-good-as-chicken-noodle-soup word.

I think the best part about being home is the parties. Speaking of parties...

Servers... overloading...

Ever try to get on a certain social networking website and it takes forever to load (or doesn't load at all) because there are a katrillion people trying to do the exact same thing? Yes, such is my life right now. I may have to resort to reading a book. Agh! ;) hehehe
